Spontaneous Vegetation

[1] Systematic study of the relationships between plants and people. Not simply the study of the human “use” of plants; rather, ethnobotany locates plants within their cultural context in particular societies, and situates peoples within their ecological contexts.

Inventory of weeds
During the last semester of 2016 I catalogued the spontaneous vegetation I founded in my surrounding neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York. I was inspired by the Ethnobotany[1]. I was interested in having a broader understanding of the types of species found to have an holistic understanding of them.

Two books helped me recognize the samples: Wild Plants in the City by Nancy Page and Richard Weaver, and Just Weeds by Edwin Spencer.
